A framed slate allows the billiard cloth (felt) to be stapled on, which is the professional standard. It holds the cloth tighter and more evenly, and it will never peel or bubble like cheaper, glued-on cloth. It also makes re-felting the table much easier and cleaner in the future.

How much space do I need for this table?
